What's your favorite card, /b/? The more broken, the better.
GOAT.
>>671567224
Best card coming through
FABLED
MOTHERFUCKING
HERO
this one for sure
Blaze it motherfuckers
>>671567224
Shahrazad, I'm too lazy to find the pic. Those that know, know.
>>671568212
>Shahrazad
Haven't heard of that card until now. Now I can see why it would be neglected.
Always fun in my B/G aristocrats deck
>>671568462
Here's the improved version, by the way.
Hank of the hammer
>>671568541
best Dragon coming through, all other dragons step aside and leave your tokens behind
Love It
>>671567644
This
>>671568637
>best dragon
lol
>>671568637
cough* utvara helkite
>>671568637
Don't you just hate when you have a GG card like this but no matter what the other guy uses his counter on it? Even if you deliberately play another beastly card the turn before its like the motherfucker knows you got it and has something special saved just for it. Fuck this game I'm salty
>>671568917
Balefire + basilisk collar = win
I really want to get my hands on one of these cards, seeing as I've got a Teferi deck that relies pretty heavily on mana artifacts.
This is the card if people don't speak moon runes.
>Gilded Lotus
>When tapped, add three mana of any one color to your mana pool.
i just love the art on this card
>>671569254
>>671569397
Well shit, thought that was the Japanese one I had saved. Ah, well.
>>671568899
My autism is forcing me to tell you planeswalkers don't have creature types. Fag.
>>671569522
Bolas has a card where he is a creature type with dragon subtype, to which I say, your are the faget good sir
>>671569702
Then post the creature, not the planeswalker. Fag.
>>671569522
Nicol Bolas is a dragon, who can walk the planes. Please learn before spreading autism.
>>671568523
Top kek
>>671570146
But where on that card does it say dragon?
Hes a planes walker who looks like a dragon
>>671570233
Yeah, it's great. Can't take credit for it though, found it in one of these threads a while back.
But for real though.
>>671570350
>looks like a dragon
She is a dragon.. She is literally a dragon. Please learn the lore.
>>671567224
How is this card any good? Counterspell is only 2 mana
>>671570549
I never got why this card was any good. If someone isn't targeting my hand, why do I want to use it?
>>671569522
Quick, he's gonna have a fit, post the image!
I love this card, even though it's pretty bad...
Just something about it...
>>671570903
You draw three cards and ditch the two in your hand that aren't useful right now.
Crack a fetch and you're gold.
It's one of the best draw spells ever printed.
>>671567224
/thread
>>671570705
What is the difference between 2 and 0?
Don't answer, I'll tell you: it's 2.
>>671570705
Basically to cast a "free" (minus one life and one of your worthless cards) counter spell. That's the only reason I can think. Especially if you, for some retarded reason, had your mana completely tapped.
>>671570705
so you can use your mana on playing other cards and when your opponent sees you're tapped out they are more inclined to play their stronger cards.
>>671571235
Yeah but then I have to draw through the cards I didnt want before.
>>671570705
Because it can be cast for 0 mana...
Read its second effect.
>>671571235
>ditch the two in your hand that aren't useful right now.
Also great anti-discard.
And all for 1 mana.
>>671571297
It's what you use to stop combo decks in Legacy.
If you're playing blue, you're playing Force of Will.
>>671570556
>She is a dragon
>She
>lore
Thread refers to card. It literally isn't a card with the subtype dragon.
>>671571279
>Not a foil full art Island
Get that weak shit out of my house.
>>671571279
I mean I guess it's the most broken but that doesn't mean it's everyone's favorite.
>/threading your own post
>>671567224
pacifism
>>671571297
1 life isn't worth less than 2 Mana. And I won't always have a worthless card in my hand to go with it.
>>671571293
wow you're a real fucking smart guy, what a total credit to the community, bravo
>>671570903
Legacy Miracles is a good example.
>>671571406
But you're drawing them later.
If, for example, you've got three lands in your hand and no gas, you can save the lands for later and find an answer for the immediate problem.
>>671571406
Do you have any concept of tempo?
>>671570113
My man.
Timbermaw larva.
>mfw all this autism with Force of Will and Nicol Bolas
>>671570113
That's my modern deck right now.
>>671571617
>allows you to tap all of your mana on your turn
>lures opponent into playing their trump card because you're tapped out
>even non worthless cards are worth being sacrificed to win the game
Seriously git gud, the benefits are plain as day.
One of my favorite cards that gets seriously underplayed.
>Strategy? Why're you looking at me like I know what that is?
>>671568523
Nice one
>>671572570
Another favorite. Overplayed though, but god tier.
free untapz
>>671572383
>Caca's Blessing
I use this guy in a deck that makes opponents concede cause they don't wanna wait through my 20+ actions per turn.

>>671572383
God the mill killer. This card was a total fag
>>671573341
Damn havent seen that one before
>>671567224
I can't believe they're reprinting Force of Will. So dumb.
Can't get over casting this gem, after that, spreading seas is a close favorite.
>>671574329
It's over hyped. You still lose 2 cards for 1 counterspell. Gets you out of tight spots but the cost is quite high. Let them print it to hell I say.
can i play?
Broken as all christ
>>671568658
u would

>>671571377
that is a good one, but only good with the res spells behind it
>>671573341
I remember when this card was placed on the type2 restricted list THREE HOURS after Urza's Saga launched.
>>671571148
This fucking card is the only reason I have EVER ragequit a match against my friends.
>playing a low mana Elf-token deck
>friend has slow vampire deck
>he drops 2 of these, back to back
Nope. I was done.
I fucking love Emrakul. I've snuck her in, I've Goryo's Vengeanced her in, I've hardcasted her in old Tron. I've hard cast in EDH before the ban. Without a doubt, my favorite way to win.
Captcha: Click on all the spaghetti dishes.
>>671572383
This shit right here was the only thing that made me stop playing my mill deck.
Such fucking bullshit that an entire deck type can be countered from one single card, that never even needs to be played.
>>671574879
I had that in my elfstroke deck WAY back in the day... I loved being able to force a player to draw 37,000 cards on the 4th turn.
>oldfag here
>been playing since 94, off and on.
My favorite card is the card that singlehandedly got me into MTG.
>pic related
I was at school assembly waiting for it to begin, in the bleachers with my friends. They were comparing cards and I asked to see what the cards were.
I remember the artwork on this being amazing and I had to check out the rest.
>next card that made me fall in love with the artwork and game was Stormseeker.
fun commander to play with
>>671575796
>>671574879
Lol everyone knows this one. Retardedly broken beyond repair
Ice Cave + Dawns Reflection + Vitalize
Lingering Souls is legit
>>671575796
>>671574879
>>671573341
my favourite one is curiosity; i just like the way that card represents itself;
shadowborn demon and desacration are pretty neat
but def. the most broken one is mind twist

Combine it with a Null Brooch and you are unattackable
>>671575120
T hose were the days.
>>671568637
>>671568899
nope?
I've always wanted to get into some kind of card game like this. Sometimes I go and have a look at them in the store, but I don't know where to begin or what I'm looking at. There's a group of people who play in my town, too.
>>671577618
Get ready to pay out the ass if you want to play competitively.
>>671577618
I'd suggest maybe looking into draft play.
I'm not 100% on the specifics but it revolves around opening 6 boosters and making a deck of ~40 cards and not having the ultra-meta-fuck-you-deck.
>>671577618
if you're just looking to play casually, then just start getting cards and be prepared to have your ass violated by the long-time collectors and people with too much cash.
Or, you can use something like XMage/Cockatrice, and have acess to all the cards, and just build decks to fuck around with.
Best bets for online would be to play Standard, to avoid some broken or hyper-synergistic cards from earlier releases. At least, until you understand the game.
>>671569978
This with Krenko
>>671577975
You aren't sure about the only real competitive format?
Anybody can net-deck or throw a bunch of cards together. Draft actually involves strategy while picking cards, deck building, and playing.
its briddy goob
>>671567496
what exactly is the point of that
>>671578726
to fill out a set's card count, its filler
>>671578726
I've just been sitting here, staring at that card, and wondering the same thing.

THEY ARE COOL
>>671579243
So, from what I can make out, it's an autist card that has *some* limited combo potential.
>>671567496
the point of this card is so you can get a "converted mana cost 8" permanent onto the battlefield, very quickly, like turn 3-4
the set had a keyword that went like "draw cards equal to the highest converted mana cost among permanents you control", which would be 8 cards here, BROKEN
the card is shit tho, there are better ways to achieve the same
>>671579530
nope, but you got the first part right
>>671572326
DAMN!!!! That card is fucking BROKEN!
>>671579530
It's card made as a joke for flavor. The developers try to appeal to all kinds of players.
>>671579109
Nicol Bolas=Badass
ISLAND, THIS, TINKER
NEXT GAME?
this fucking nigger
best flavour card imo
>>671579982
dark ritual+entomb+exhume= turn 1 Iona.
Most useless card of all times.......
>>671580812
>mfw I have a random Elbrus in my Slippery Bogle deck
>mfw manage to stall game long enough to play
The tears were delicious.
Even though it's not great, I love how the name fits the effect.
>>671577191
Yeah... A first turn, limitless mana, draw kill... I was AT Neutral Ground in NYC when that combo was first used during the release tournament for Urza's Saga... I have never heard a store full of nerds so quiet before...

easiest way to ditch your library
>>671581249
Withengar is so fucking cool
like the whole thing is just sexy
i run elbrus in my monoblack infect deck. its fun when a midget with unblockable suddenly spawns a 13/13 with infect :^)
got mine as a foil for $9
In Vintage this card is extremely good
>>671580208
I agree. But the original Elder Dragon Legend cards left serious room for improvement in the art.

>>671584493
That is what this is for
Birthing Pod!
>>671584493
God, I love running this in my Baptism by Fire mutli deck.
Just healing and waiting and stalling, then suddenly I'm pumping out tokens with buffs like crazy, and I can just sustain/redirect so much damage away that burning me down isn't an option.
>>671584724
That does fuck-all, since the Legions will be spawned in AFTER upkeep costs.
how has this not been mentioned yet?

Unglued... I loved that set!
Sliver decks in fucking general
>>671567224
I like this one.
Why do you still play this archaic piece of shit instead of the vastly superior Hearthstone?
>>671584724
Doesnt really work against Legion. Simple Golgari Charm or Detention Sphere makes it tho.
>>671585084
I used it on my U/W/R budget control deck, was awesome to stall the game with Elixir of Immortality and a single Congregate in the deck for insane lifegains. :D

Nah, Archon redirects to you.
>Fuck it, your turn.
*Draw, play land, end turn*
This deck was the fastest way to tilt my buddies. They couldn't seem to figure out that their G and B decks wouldn't do shit against me. One got smart with Infect, though. Had to start actually trying.

>Gain an Emblem that states: "You cannot win or lose the game, and your opponents cannot win or lose the game."
The ride truly never ends.
>>671586392
Meh, I started playing MTG around Gatecrash, so I'm not really used to Infects, anyway. Tho each of my friends probably stopped playing MTG due to the fact i started using control decks. xD
Played at tournaments for about a year, but couldn't afford it and other competitive games, so I quit.

>>671586613
I don't really know, I was hoping someone else would chime in with good uses for it.
It just fucks with the flavour of the game so much, I can't help throw one in almost every deck I make

I want to build a deck with this, suppression bonds, and claustrophobia.
>>671586613
>>671587067
Only time I've ever seen this used was to counter my vampire deck, by changing all instances of the term Vampire on my Captivating Vampire to something stupid, like Fungus.
It's a hyper-specialized card, so it really doesn't serve much of a purpose.
>>671587067
This one is a way funnier option imo. especially if someone casts cards like Debt to the Deathless xD
>>671587597
There is "Reverberate" too

No.
I. Did it and top 8ed quite a bit
>>671587834
But it doesnt change targets of an already casted spell. Ricochet is kinda a "nope you get fucked but twice as much instead" card.
Only correct answer.
>>671585850
Because HS is RNG bullshit.
>>671584031
Back during the Urza Block, I put together a speed elf deck, with some splashes of blue and red for fun. The main components were Priest of Titania, Weatherseed Treefolk, Rancor, Greater Good, Intruder Alarm.
By the 4th turn, I could generate literally limitless mana, convert some to both red, or blue (or use a green/blue pain land if I hadnt drawn my conversion elves) and then force my opponent to either, draw THOUSANDS of cards, or eat one of 4 red direct damage X casting cost spells. Even given a bad draw, if you didnt kill me by turn 4/5 you were dead EVERY time... After the timing changes with Urza's Destiny/Mercadian Masks I stopped playing cus all my old decks were now basically useless.
>>671587954
Well, the only thing i top 8ed was a 10 dollar worth monored burn deck. :D
>>671588064
Oh, yeah, you're right
>>671588079
what is this good for?
>>671588358
It basically reads: pay 1 life, draw a card
>>671588358
I'd guess fucking over your opponent. That or some mad wizard combo to destroy everything
>>671588358
Best draw engine in the game. It's banned or restricted in every format, which says something for its power.
>>671588235
Well, yeah. But at that time you also had the mana burn rule. xD
Best card ever
>put one lost in the woods in a deck
>every other card is a forest
>complain about manaflood every game
>>671588656
Never had to worry. I could funnel several hundred thousand mana into each X spell, including stroke of genius. I had a LOT of fun, and won a TON of tournaments with that deck
>>671584493
Another card I run in my control deck. I think this answers your win con. I also run 4 because of the interaction with karakas.>>671585921

Oh, let me play a game where cards are restricted based on the deck you play...yayay
>>671589333
Nice trips, but regardless, do you actually play with a group that'd require you to tear the card? I'm just curious, never purchased one of those cards, but been thinking about this one.
