Then Horus shows up on Earth, and says, "I'm wrekin your shit" and the Emp goes no and they blast each other with tons of psychic fuckyous and pretty much kill each other.
Horus actually died and Emp needed to be put on Lifesuport for like the next 10 thousand years.....

All human tech is ancient. There have been almost no real improvements for almost 10 thousand years.
XV88's actually use twin linked ion cannons , tau got ion weapons from the demiurg.
I don't know if lascannon are better, they both fulfill the same basic roles as heavy anti armor weapons but lascannons have a huge energy supply and reload time compared to the more stable and safe tau weapons
