Some things I like, in no particular order:
One Piece - 10/10 in my book. It's legit made me cry on numerous occasions, given me great laughs, and the action is awesome.
Cowboy Bebop - 10/10 Have watched it like 12 times and never gotten tired of it.
Code Geass - Amazing show. 10/10. Just so good all around.
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Solid show.
Desert Punk - Funny, and has some decent action to it.
Steel Angel Kurumi - I don't know. Robot Angel chicks in maid outfits with huge tits.
Excel Saga - Funny and retarded. I like it.
Devil is a Part-Timer - Good show. I've only seen one season, but I liked it.
s-CRY-ed - Pretty good. I like it.
Hellsing/Hellsing Ultimate - really good stuff.
Detective Conan/Case Closed - Entertaining show. Good crime anime.
FLCL - Basically a staple. Ridiculous, fast-paced show, and it's only six episodes long.
Afro Samurai - Like an anime Kill Bill, except the bride is Samuel L. Jackson and the soundtrack is Wu Tang Clan.
Dragon Ball Z - because it's Dragon Ball Z.
Yu Yu Hakusho - great show. Excellent characters, great action.
Hunter X Hunter - really good show. Starts out pretty lighthearted, then gets hella heavy.
Gurren Lagaan - great show.
Trigun - Again, it's a staple.
Samurai Champloo - Like Cowboy Bebop but funnier and with more swords.
Rurouni Kenshin - Awesome fights, well written characters.
Fate/Zero - Good, short anime with really good fights.

In all honesty I watched it with my girl friend and we both totally loved it. It's one for those who ever wished they could just live in an online fantasy world for a while. I could list a slew of others but I seriously think this is one of the best of the recent series I've watched. Assassination Classroom is fun, but lacks depth. Death Note is a classic. Fate/Stay series is intriguing. Ranma 1/2 and Tenchi Muyo are fun. Cowboy Beebop it crazy and so is Kekai Senin (if I've spelled that one correctly). Gurren Lagaan is nuts but bloody cool. Kill a kill is just as nuts and cool maybe even more so. FMA is always a good one. Kuroko no Basket is the best sports anime out there at the moment in my opinion.

Still SAO we've watched 4 times in the last year or so (do NOT watch it dubbed, only subbed) and we can't get enough of it, the sound track is fantastic as well.

Idk man... all of these have quite strong hidden messages or have a very unique artistic style. I will give you that especially the 700 episode monsters have problems with keeping it up, but I've been enjoying fairy tail to this day. It cetainly didnt help OnePiece to have a 2 year arc in dressrosa and Ive stopped watching that. SAO was entertaining even if it was really campy and the second season was so bad I stopped after the 3rd episode. TokyoGhoul disappointed me in the second season as well but the point still stands that the popular ones, as in HxH, Deathnote Code geass elfenlied and such are classics for a reason.

if you've been watching (/suffering through) a show like Naruto from the very beginnings, that's means you've been in that universe and with those characters for 13 years!

it may be low or medium quality storytelling, but the constant presence of it in your life gives you a whole different level of attachment compared to fewer-season shows.

personally, i like that effect very much and it helps me ignore the disappointing storylines.
