I guess that the tricky thing about quantum mechanics is that true objectivity is impossible to achieve; An observer has to be -and remain outside of- the event horizon of the subject [or subjects] being observed to ensure that the presence of the observer does not affect the behavior of the subject(s).
What's the most disgusting term you guys have heard for vagina?
For me it's "clam".

>>647732824
The only big problem with the prequels was the pacing. Episode 1 was too slow, and as a result Episode 3 was painfully rushed.

people read into that too far. They were trying to make it out that the jedi were advanced enough to have non-force measurements for potential. The thing the blood wasn't a cause, it was correlated, they used the measure of them to determine if someone had potential without need a jedi on every planet to find kids

Just been on my mind recently, having seen a few experiments (run by people who understand the numbers, are prominent in a scientific field, and understand just how much evidence is required to even suggest statistical significance) that show some really wonky shit going on with the human brain and how it seems to interact with relatively recent physics ideas.
Two people separated from earth's magnetic field by a giant Faraday cage (and put into small identical-yet-connected fields in separate rooms) being able to share a small fraction of sensory experiences across distances, for example... human consciousness skewing number generation, people inside Earth's magnetic field being able to "tell" when somebody is looking at them and being correct at around 70-75% (while it drops to the expected perfect 50 when the field is removed as a control), studies showing that people can actually react with stress responses to "emotionally-charged imagery" (and with some people reliably) before it's even shown to the person, etc. Wonky shit we can't really explain yet, and with a LOT more satisfying evidence than "I heard my uncle's cousin's friend from college say he once saw..."
>>647733291
I'm not exactly sober, so you're going to have to forgive me for my poor wording. Anyway, the outcome is going to be almost invariably altered by the media used to measure it.

as far as I know there was no follow up. I'd liked to have seen them try to measure some change in the people. If they altered the thing by force of will I would expect some other energy change, like a drop in body temperature or burning calories or something. What little I know about that experiment was just that and as far as I know the subject wasn't picked up again
What about a g/fur tho

right it always is. when you read the temperature of something, the thermometer changes the substances temp, they deliberately make those out of materials with low specific heat so the effect is reduced

A lot of the time it's stuff like... the one I heard about where a person has to pick one of two options, and the result is either nothing or an image. They run the test thousands and thousands and thousands of times with hundreds of different people, and it comes out almost perfectly 50%... but the same test run with a mostly-pornographic image gets people picking the right one 54% of the time with enough recurrence to be significant (something mentioned about the non-linearity of time and a slight sixth-sense leading to more procreation, whatever). They aren't exactly the kind of things that rewrite history, but it's enough that people go "Wait, what? Something isn't right here, find out more, MORE TESTING!"
Was great, one of the guys spent 15 years working on an experiment and he "successfully built a Time Machine". "That's what I call it, my Time Machine, because 15 years for a failure was a colossal waste of time, my little Time Wasting Machine." Is unfortunate how many interesting things get dropped entirely because they don't have the impact to "rewrite life as we know it", probably how the experiment you mentioned died. So many little pieces of the grand puzzle that get forgotten because usually nobody cares about a 4% discrepancy

yeah its why you repeat experiments, particularly statistical ones, you get false results quite a bit. I remember thinking the pray/random number one was interesting. I heard about it from a professor who was a Christian, I am too but I have a hard time believing God would waste the effort meddling in something so stupid. I would be receptive to the idea that they effected it somehow, that the power of prayer if you will is from the person not God. You could substantiate that idea by finding some kind of energy transfer form the people to the machine. Even if its transmitted by a yet to be discovered energy form, its start point (the people's bodys) and the end point (the machine) should show signs, energy use by the people's metabolism and a temperature increase in the machine
