Only the best Pepes in this thread please.
Here's a copy I made of my original grid Pepe.

Had it appraised by a German trader for $600, needless to say I'm quite pleased.

You're a true connoisseur, sir.
I, too, find the deepest wells of my soul inexplicably stirred by Jameson's subtle--yet potent--commentary on the condition of postmodern man.
Of course, I'm a fan of Rilke's renderings, too--and Turto is legendary.
But there's something about Jameson's critique postmodern logic that really speaks to me.
Cheers, good sir. You are a gentleman and a scholar. Enjoy this lovely Cameron piece, a fine example of American minimalism.

This anon is absolutely right. Klise's work--though, at the time, considered perhaps too advant garde for the casual collector--has recently experienced a surge in popularity, especially throughout the German market, where minimalism is making something of a come-back.
Turto's work has been criticized for its lack of transparency and authenticity, a characteristic German recognition of the work of Walter Benjamin--especially his landmark essay ""The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction."

Indeed! Mondrian was just as much a master of the word as he was of the brush.
His revolutionary attitude and politics caused him no small degree of grief in his personal life, to be sure. But it's precisely his commitment to the craft that, I think, we are called to admire.
I've always been particularly fascinated by his friendly, though critical, responses to the work of Rehey.
This Rehey work is a production of an original in my grandfather's collection. It lacks, I think, the substance of a Jameson or a Rilke, but its nevertheless possessed of certain, as he himself put it, "lightness of being" that stirs the soul.

Ha! Thank you for reminding me of Mondrian/Rehey's interpersonal politics; I've always been very drawn to Rehey, and I was in fact introduced to Mondrian after reading the (unburned) copies of their personal letters in the Kinesthetic Pepe Gallery. Mondrian's haiku about transliteration of data structures actually sent me into a drinking binge, before having any experience with the rest of his work. Great, powerful, and moving piece as well, this one. Remarkable stories between the two; if I'm remembering correctly, this was the one Rehey formed in Mondrian's actual house. The master, polite as ever, made tea for the whole house. If I could have been there with a polaroid... Oh me, oh my.

Some truly artful renditions throughout this thread. What an impressive gathering a keenly-eyed connoisseurs.
I hope you'll all enjoy this reproduction of a Frank Issel piece. I had the opportunity to view the original at the opening of the American Issel gallery in Chicago, about three years ago. There was quite a collection.

Lovely Issel piece right here.
An original would fetch a pretty penny.
My Granddad was in Germany during the war. We found this in his attic after he died.
I'm worried it was looted.
>>609309719
This nigga fucking with all of youse who listen to his pricing. This nigga is selling valuables while he downgrades your own perception on the valuable pieces.
Learn to value by yourself. At least 35% of the pieces posted are worth more than 325 on the closed market. On the open market even more.
Grow some eyes above your head, don't be stupid.
>>609310037
Issel is always so striking. Even a reproduction is a treat! Thank you, Anon.

Gurtveld is legendary! I studied in Paris, primarily under LaFleur (of whose work I am immensely fond) and to a lesser degree under Mollier (when he could put down the bottle and actually get to work--although, he was, of course, a genius of the highest possible caliber).
I've always been fond of the German school, though. Rilke and Jameson (of whom, I know, Gurtveld is critical but fond) remain among my primary inspirations.
>>609310497
It's not a legit copy. The original is titled "Pepe Scream.png" 20 dollars.
>>609310573
I went to school for this. Don't be mad because I told you that you got ripped off on Ebay. Not my fault you spent 90,000 dollars on the Starter Pepe Pack that is worth 100.

I was there in September, as well! What a small world.
The exhibits were exquisite, of course. There was an original Comi there--literally priceless. To see it in person was one of the great moments of my life.
