We start with that skill at 5, all others are at 0. When a skill is being tested, ill state the target number, and the first reply will roll to try and hit that number, their roll is increased by Butters skill level in that particular field. Every time we succeed in using an ability, its level increases by 1, unless it was a trivial task.

Having seen the large reward the king was handing out for the death of the Great Red Dragon, Butters just could NOT resist trying his hand at the job. However, having no experience in the area of dragon slaying, he decided he should maybe get a bit of help. Some equipment or advice could no doubt be helpful.

Old Dogan runs the magic shop, apparently he's seen a dragon, maybe he could tell Butters more. Alternatively, enlisting the help of some mercenaries would certainly improve your odds.

Butters goes to the magic shop, to consult with Old Dogan. The old man reeks of herbs and smoke.
"Hello Butters, I would never have imagined I would see you here. May I ask what you are doing in my shop since I do not recall you ever having a gift for the magical arts?"

Butters explains that he is going after the Great Red Dragon and needs advice on how to kill it.

After a moment of thought, Dogan replies.

"Dragons are a tricky sort. They exist in the physical realm, but have a strong magical presence. You will need some sort of magic to weaken it, but ultimately, it must be killed physically, the same way we would be slain"

Butters asks Old Dogan on how to weaken it with magic.He is surprised to learn that while he has no magical talent, Old Dogan is willing to infuse him with some power, giving him minimal magic talent, for 100 Gold. Failing that, a magical weapon will work, or he could hire a magician. They seem to be the only options right now.

Butters asks Old Dogan where to find magicians for hire. He stares for a moment, seeming almost unwilling to help, but gives in.

"I had an apprentice a few years ago. He may be willing to help, but I warn you, he can be hot headed"

Dogan tells you where his old apprentice lives. He receives thanks and apologies and then Butters leaves.

Eventually, Butters comes to the house of the magician, whos name was Derrick.

butters knocks on the door and a young man opens the door. Looking on the young side of twenty with a bad beard.

"what do you want?" He commands.

Butters tells him that he needs help.

After a short discussion, Derrick decides that he will help for 50 Gold now and 50 Gold when they make it back, plus half the reward for killing the dragon, which makes 1,100 Gold total.
