Only cold turkey'd once, it was odd, but not insufferable. The main side effect was feeling odd 'zapping' sensations in my head when I moved my eyes.

As for just being off it, there's just a slide to uselessness and depression that happens so subtly that I don't notice it, and before I know it I can't do anything. Both myself, and the doctors have decided that since I feel 'functional' when I'm taking it, and like I want to die when I'm not, that it's best just to stay on it, at least for the time being.

Heroin is more about willpower after the first few days though, right? I've cold turkeyed synthetic opioid after prolonged use, the restless legs is the worst thing, imo.

With Venlafaxine you will be having nightmares, "brain zaps" and seven plagues of hell for weeks or months, well unless you're lucky ofc.

When I came off venlafaxine I would have "brain zaps" and sleep paralysis. During the paralysis one of two things would happen.

Either, I would open my eyes while paralysed and become aware of a presence in my room. Shadowy black demons standing over my bed, or;

I would start sinking into my bed and at the same time the ground beneath me would give way to open space with a view right to the fiery core. At this point two demons would seize me, one on each arm and with a sound of rushing air and a falling sensation, I would be dragged downwards, destination Hell. I managed to wake up before getting there, not sure what would've happened if I hadn't.

No I'm not religious.
