No, you fucking dip shit.
For life to form you would need a rocky planet with an iron core. This is because Solar winds blow away the atmosphere unless you have an electromagnetic field. Thats why we have life and mars doesnt.

A planet the size of our sun, with an iron core large enough to protect it would be so dense, it would become a fucking black hole. If that didn't happen, at the very least, the intense gravity would prevent anything from being able to grow there.

>>
>>603671191
First of all you mean a molten Iron core.

Mars has an Iron core, most of the fucking planet is Rust, hell the moon has an Iron Core.

Secondly, When it comes to gravity is not how much of something is how much is in how little of space, AKA as density.

Just becuase you had a lump of Iron the size of our sun doesn't mean it'll automatically collapse into a black hole.
>>

yes, i meant to distinguish between molten and solid. I fucked up there and left it out. Corrected myself here. >>603672844

And yes, density matters. Do you know what's REALLY fucking dense? Iron.

When the core of a star becomes iron, fusion stops. This makes the star cool down and begin to collapse in on itself. When the remainder of the star greater than 3-4 solar masses (after fusion pushes out less than gravity pulls in) you get a black hole.

If you had a planet the size of our sun, the core would be fucking huge. This would mean 1 of 2 things

1) Fusion would happen if there wasnt too much iron, and the planet would become a star
2) The planet would become a black hole.

i read recently that one of our ringed planet's moons (i forgot which one) has an iron core, a liquid h20 ocean covering the entire surface, and is all burried under a 100mile sheet of ice. to top it off its thin atmosphere is mainly oxygen.

there could very well be forms of extreme life on that planet. technically microbial aliens or even smaller animals like waterbears.

pic related, its a waterbear. (tardigrade)
these animals can thrive in temperatures a little bit above absolute zero to well above the boiling point of water.

ALSO

scientists have developed possible structures for silicon based life.
assuming water and oxygen is necessary for life, we may even be looking for life on the wrong planets

just some fun facts i guess.

>>
>>603669962
Life on earth has size limitations to a variety of factors. Gravity is one of them . Planets with greater gravity would not be able to sustain tall animals. Instead, they would be short and stocky. Furthermore, life on earth also has limitations because each cell has a maximum size due to its surface area to volume ratio. Assuming matter is same throughout the universe, there wouldn't be a possibility of super large creatures. On a larger planet, the creatures might be smaller...

There are not actually limitations, only those invented by men. They have been proven wrong before - not that long ago we were teaching that life cannot exist without oxygen. Then they found life right here on earth that lived without oxygen, so much for that rule.

The current "limitations" on bug size for instance is related to the amount of oxygen available, so there could be more oxygen on another planet, but there could also be more efficient life forms that gather oxygen better, use far less oxygen, or use other atoms altogether

So there is no "Limit" to the amount of mass/gravity the universe can support? then there shouldn't be any reason to dismiss even the most near-impossible chance that a planet sustaining life forms the size of earth exists, no matter the practicality
>>
>>603669962
Canis Major is bigger in theory but it's actual size is disputable for a number of reasons, it's hyperinflated for one and its irregular in shape, and it's gravity keeps the loosely connected gasses together

Not the guy your arguing with, but each star isn't always a galaxy. Get an actual telescope and learn before engaging in arguments

In an infinite universe there are infinite possibilities...this is how we know the universe is not infinite however, In relation to your hypothesis I guess it all depends on what you deffine as life and what you describe as a single organism.

if it's a thousand times larger than the earth, it will have stronger gravity, even if it's just gas. jupiter is just 11.2 times larger than the earth, yet it is 2.5 times more massive than all the rest of the planets in the Solar System combined. and it's a gas planet.
>>
>>603681945
So a planet large enough for the earth to exist upon its surface, and with one tenth the gravity? If the organism in question follows a similar biochemistry, the organism would have a greater gravity than the planet itself.

>>
There's no lifeforms that could be as big as the Earth, because gravity would not allow it.

Also, if there were organisms that enormous, that would mean that it's in a huge planet and there's no terrestrial planets that size, only Jovian planets.

Jovian planets cannot support life because they consist mostly of hydrogen and helium and do not have a solid surface. They are also found at long distances from their star.

Antares is only 883 solar masses.

NML Cygni is likely double its size.

Not every star has planets.

Betelgeuse is likely going to go hypernova within the next million years though. It would be about the size of a full moon in the night sky when this happens. It wouldn't impact our solar system though.

Due to physics and also reality, planets can not be much bigger than Jupiter. Once you start getting much bigger than Jupiter, the planets start to become stars

Also, due to the immense gravity of a large planets, life forms would actually be smaller. Think having the build of an elephant but being the size of a mouse

If you wanted big life forms, the planets would actually have to be smaller with less gravity
