>>596900141
fuck man. I wanted to. I only did that because my friend who listened while I made it didn't like that part as much as the middle. I'm going to redo stuff soon. The middle section is actually why I called it that haha.

pretty nice concepts, its not recorded or mixed well though. tell them to work on mixing / parallel processing. i listened to 2 tracks , that style would fit well for drama / action TV shows , maybe even movies if they continue working

must admit that i am not an expert, so could you maybe point out why and what you think the mixing lacks?
Fuck it why not?

lucky, i fuckin love deadmau5. also wahst with the damn sidechain?
>>596900987
saw them play live the other day, what a fucking experience.. apparently theyre really great showmen. Hope they get far
>>596901274
lmaooo , I was a fan of his stuff for a while before that. I still trip out about it , and yeah sidechain is retarded, that was uploaded when I was just starting to take producing seriously lol
>>596897205
I do some sampling yeah. A lot of stuff I do is recorded on guitar then converted to MIDI and put through whatever synth.
>mfw I have a few gb's of synths... :)
>>596901098
the drums seem ok. the vocals definitely still have too much unnecessary frequencies that need to be removed. 1 - 2 k , 5k , 7k. other than that, the guitars are still slightly too harsh in the high end and the levels are all over the place, needs proper mastering
https://soundcloud.com/ryan-emry
>>596901098
but the concepts themselves are nice , which really is the most important part. and song writing is what separates the men from the boys at the end of the day : )
>>596901528
I have an addiction to torrenting sample packs lol , after I got Omnisphere, Spire , Abino3 i didnt really need any other synths, but sample packs are addicting for some reason

well done on the lyrics if its you rapping. overall good vibes, really inspired one that "Starter" I always make prog trance / techno but sometimes I enjoy rap so much I feel like I wana write my own shit. but being a fag looking white boy I hesitate and ultimately never do it
>>596901787
>>596901614
sure enough. I am not sure whether the things on soundcloud are preliminary or not, but all of them are in their thirties experienced musicians, so im guessing they know what theyre doing. Think they get it recorded and mastered by some guy who is semi-pro with a well equipped studio, so maybe his mastering skills lack some, i dont know. Anyway, thanks for the feedback
>>596902244
Thank you!
Nearly everything I do is entirely me. Beats, raps, singing.
I feel that I am very hit or miss tbh
Point me to your post and I will listen
>>596902306
yeah it does have that "high quality studio" feel , but the volume shouldnt really rise like that throughout. definitely not their fault, most likely some mistakes during mixing / mastering
>>596901999
samples definitely do a lot for me when starting a song. A lot of the time I'll start with one sample and fill in around it with MIDI. pretty soon I've got a clear idea of the song.
nice trips btw!
Bump, don't die guys
>>596902490
keep up it. I know my shit and you definitely have something inside you. creative lyrics, keep developing that raw style and those clever rhyme schemes. watch Team backpack cyphers for inspiration, lots of cool shit on there. "Starter" has a realllly nice instrumental and nice lines as well. my shit is pretty generic lol, heres the most recent : https://soundcloud.com/sergei-kanev/chasing-chelsea

Good, quality shit there man.
Would soundcloud be a good place to look for a band that needs a vocalist?
>>596903193
ill give you my honest feedback,
first , dont remix garbage cheesy songs for any reason lol. 2nd, you need to read guides to learn how to mix. DL this pdf and read it religiously. http://www.mediafire.com/download/86h81ao604ida0k/Guide-to-Mixing.pdf
3rd. you need to train your ears by listening to good music so after a while you will start improving your soundchoice. that remix sounds like a mario game that was discontinued

I think it was through facebook in a group called Toronto rave community lol, mau5 always trolls people in that group and I think he saw one of my posts in there. but like still i trip balls when I think about him hearing the shit I make in my bedroom and then actually commented on 2 tracks . i still get followers from that shit
I really suggest all of you guys on facebook join that Toronto rave community. it will provide endless hours of entertainment and its good for promoting music. 30k members in there, so many trolls lol

I should take that back, never heard the original, the vocals did sound nice though lol , should have said "if u will remix anything, make sure it wont be a complete fail" lolol , the bluntness might feel bad, but its the best way to use the anger and frustration to push you to spend more time and get better

funny story - hotboxed my parents garage one day , just got absolutely stoned to the point of no facial expression. went into FL studio , wrote some chord progressions, piano lines, and vocal chops. Cool ideas, although the poor mixing is really taking alot away from it. reminds me of led zepplin for some reason

I cut it up from a piano sample I had, so, yes.
>>596904982

>>596904909
excellent ideas , just read up on mixing. mixing hiphop is easy as FUCK to learn. sound choice needs to be more coherent and professional in order to flow better. for example: 1 of my friends from toronto : https://soundcloud.com/kosmikfunk/obsidian

Really neat mix of metal and synth. I especially liked 'In Orbit' and 'Extinction Cycle'. also 'Irreversible has some great melodics. You got a follow from me.

You've got good rhythm but lackluster delivery and your flow is really basic. On top of that you are using a really bad microphone.
Since all that added up means it's not the most stellar experience for the ears, it's all up to the lyrics at that point. Which, fortunately, you've done a pretty good job on.
I do sense a heavy crutch on melodrama tho, which can end up really hindering some MC's because they start to think just because they're depressed or self-depreciating it makes them "hella deep". Just make sure you don't always rap about yourself and your problems.
I'm trying to work on that myself.
Narratives and points of view are underrated in the hip-hop scene. Kendrick got big by using them, same with Eminem and Tribe Called Quest.
Lotsa big names knew the secret was you can't always be telling the listeners about somebody they probably won't give a shit about at the end of the day.
>>596906630
for sure.. i'm really new at this so i know i've got some work to do finding my style and shit but for now i am just writing what inspires me and i agree about the delivery.. i can't really change my flow though haha so i'll just have to make up for it in other ways.
>>596906630
but also it's just for me , i'm not trying to become a consumer artist .. so i wanna just write down what i don't say outloud, i'm a quiet kid haha
>>596906971
You can change your flow up by listening to different styles of rapping
Peep some internet rappers, Watsky, Hopsin, Tyler the Creator
Peep some old school, Tribe Called Quest, Black Sheep, Wu Tang
Peep some chopping, Rittz the Rapper, Yelawolf, maybe some Tech N9ne
Just mix it up and see what you like in different styles. The more you broaden your horizons the more your style will deviate from it's base
>>596907292
all that shit is wack to me lmao
my favorite mcs are like surreal, rob-o, lord finesse, sluggo, sage francis, tribe is dope though and wu tang is mandatory... i used to listen to a lot of tech n9ne and shit but it didn't inspire me personally.
