Fate/Zero is the best series I've seen. I don't claim to be ridiculously experienced, but I've seen my fair share. I'd suggest you check that out. Baccano, Madoka and Durarara are also fantastic. Log Horizon is great, it's actually about the game and the game world rather than the stupid relationship between two cardboard cutout characters. Jojo is super silly but also fantastic if you don't take it too serious. Steins;Gate was quite good. Nichijou was hilarious.

Depends on which mecha. I need to watch more real robot. I've mainly watched super, Gurren, Getter, GaoGaiGar, Mazinger, etc. The robot I've watched that isn't super is mainly gundam, and stuff that's barely mecha, like Geass. Also, G Gundam was great for going full cheese and turning into DB.
