So your going to dig a 6ft deep tunnel around your trench (a bit more than average male height) and then you'd have to dig your escape tunnel at least another 10ft under that trench to avoid it cave-ins. That'd be a tunnel that is 16ft below the surface of your shed. Good luck with digging that by hand.
Unless the escape tunnel doesn't go past your fenced perimeter in which case its as useful as a chocolate fireguard.
