It would be extremely difficult to pinpoint (read: impossible) what the substance is.

Its a salt that dissociates creating an acid solution. My initial guess was probably citric acid simply because it is so common.

You said there were sedative effects, but it's impossible to say if those effects are real or perceived.

There's no way you can accurately measure the melting point of the substance and there's also no way you can do IR spectroscopy or NMR on the sample.

My advice would be to not snort the sample, but it's too late for that.
