Yeah, most important information is great, but comes with a big downside, the lecture ends like 30~40 mins early, which is unforgivable. So there is a reason we stretch lectures with filler info.

It's nice to know that place an important part for someone. I am interested in what I teach, but... linguistic is generally... quite boring. I do try to live it up with charisma and jokes, but, there is age barrier and it's quite difficult to get through.

Visible charisma and interest, not only in the subject but actually wanting to help us learn.

I used to love science with a teacher called Mr. Riley and he left the next year, along came Ms. Allison, who, although was hot as fuck (which was a distraction I didn't need), she was rather useless, seemed to just read off the computer 90% of the time. In fact I doubt she knew the subject at all.

When I was in highschool, I had a bad ass algebra teacher. He'd mess with us. If we got a question wrong he would call us stupid in a sort of "are you fucken serious" way. Everyone liked him cuz of it. His lessons really stuck too. To all the highschool slurs, Jocks, and whatnot.. He would put them on,the spot and burn em. It was fun as fuck.

I'm majoring in english/history to become a teacher. (germanfag here)
You don't really have to be a hardass. My old class and me really respected our most skilled teachers, someone who knows his area really well, throws in some trivia, some jokes here and there, stuff like that. Always come prepared, if not, they'll know of course. Like when you forget to discuss last weeks homework or something.
We're being taught much about didactics and how to talk to the kids. It's only my third semester, but yeah basically that's it. Lots of seminars about how to talk to them in person and not just in class. Making sure they understand how important it is to study at home while not sounding like some old fart.

Well, it depends at what level you're working at.. But for instance, I worked on Immigration in the US in the 20s; Ellis Island and stuff. By getting the kids to react, to imagine themselves leaving their friends and family, being badly treated, etc..

I teach in high-school and I just follow the school's rules for that. But yes, I do. And I use mine to look at the time, because I can, I'm the teacher.
