The Prestige: Christian Bale's character has an identical twin. It's his assistant. That's how he does the magic.

Gaspar Noe is a genius. But his masterpiece is Irreversible.
Just to avoid being repetitive, anyone got good recommendations for best Asian movies? I really like the dramatic style of many of them, especially how their fantasy genre usually plays out.
I'd instantly recommend the following if you haven't seen:
War of Arrows
Painted Skin 2: The Ressurection (The 2nd is not only much better but doesn't require the 1st to watch)
Dororo
The shining.. Simply amazing.
Salvage (2006) also known as Gruesome. This movie gives me the chills every time I watch it. Think Groundhog Day adapted to psychological horror... Oh, Groundhog Day (1993) is also god tier.

jimmy isn't the bad guy, he's the cop who investigated the murder of guy pierce's wife. he helps give guy pierce a reason to live by constantly giving him john g's (who are bad guys) to kill. guy pierce is the guy in the story he talks about who had the same problem as him, it was really him who just gave his wife too much insulin cause she was a diabetic
>>575642382
I recommend Calvary. Brendon Gleeson is realy God tier in it.
Another amazing Asian film I'd recommend:
Punch Lady
Not necessarily god tier, but you can't be too picky when you want to step away from the atmosphere of western cinema for a few hours.
>>575642382

From how I see it, movies like Fight Club and V for Vendetta fall short of godtier status because they don't have that lasting appeal. Their strengths are in the way they affect the viewer's worldview. So as you get older, they lose their affect after you've already been exposed to them, whereas younger audiences 1) are still young enough to be impacted very strongly by their messages and 2) don't have as much practice at distancing themselves from their first viewing of a film.
For a movie (or really any similar medium such as books, comics, or television shows) to have lasting appeal, it needs to be rewatchable without losing any of what made its first viewing outstanding.
Just my two cents.
