You just need more practice. Try it with a mirror at home, until you can point precisely.
Or go the easy route and use a camera and pretend to take pics of stuff around there. I find it is a lot easier, and you get much better quality pics.

A lot of people won't mind a camera as long as it's not overtly pointed at them. Keep it in your hand, waist level, and you can shoot like that. Gotta practice your aim and, more importantly, your timing if you're taking "drive-by" shots.

Something that works very well is pic related. Stand back a bit, use your zoom, and keep the subject at the edge of the frame. To them it'll look like you're pointing to the front, taking pictures of something else.

Forgot to add: even when shooting at waist level, don't be obvious. Pretend you're looking at something else, something that is not even in the direction of your subject. e.g. keep your subject at your right, and look at something (the sky, a building, a fountain) on your front and above you. If you're oogling at your subject while trying to be sneaky, yeah, that shit won't work.

What I do is to use a good camera, with enough zoom, and I have my GF pose for a pic in front of me, while I use the zoom to take the pic of someone far away behind her. Even people passing by can't notice where am I pointing to, much less the victims.

I use Mobile Hidden Camera (disguised name is Simple Notepad) too, with the black screen it works perfectly!

I did get caught one time too, guess what... The first fucking time I didn't use Mobile Hidden Camera but SilentCamera because I couldn't find MHC that quickly and this girl in bikini was epic and I wanted to take photos sooo quickly.
She asked me why I was taking photos, I denied it, she asked to see my camera shots.... That SilentCamera saved to the normal camera gallery so I couldn't show it, unlike MHC, seriously such an epic fail, it would've been fucking awesome to shove her face into it even though I actually was making photos.
I just said no and walked away.

I too am looking for a good app for android. I've used SilentCam for a couple years. My main issue is my old ass phone has the slowest "shutter speed" i've ever seen, whether using the main camera, or hidden camera app. If you or the subject move at all it's nothing but blurry. But I can make it work, usually standing in line at starbucks or something. I don't use video, I use the automatic snapshot methods, maybe I should just use video and then screenshot?

Also, what's a decent anonymous file uploader where nobody can browse images? I want to get some of these off my phone.
