I really disagree. Talent is most definitely required. Tracks will sound dull, muddy, and amateur if you mash up whatever. Yeah, things really are easier with advancements in technology. That being said, people did so much more with the limitations of back then. Compared to now, we have so much equipment and software at our disposal but I feel it never really gets pushed.

I play guitar, bass and (kind of) piano, and have done for most of my life. I'm in a band and we write our own music. I also produce electronic music and I think while anyone can sit down in front of a DAW and make a wav file, that's not the same as producing good music. Most bedroom producers will have a good understanding of basic music theory, and likely be able to play keyboards instruments. In no way does it require less skill than playing a musical instrument does.
