Id say it's pretty innovative. I mean there aren't many games round like it, demon souls yeah but it's not your standard rpg shit there's tonnes of awesome systems in it. It is by today's standards, you can't deny that. If it had come out back in early 2000 where shit wasn't spoond-feeding simulators, then it would be one of many jap rpgs that seem too hard for a casual. But it is pressing the borders of what developers can do without backlash from the babby gamers you get now. So it is innovative at this time within the industry.
