I agree with some of that except the criticize part. Critical thinking skills are essential to successful people where as mindlessly complimenting people (flattery) is a sign of insecurity and lack of merit. It has to be real criticism though. I don't know anyone who keeps a journal. About the closest I've seen is my own digital hoarding. Successful as I would define it is having a home, family, and money to do what it is most important to you. That said, in the context above I'm using a strictly monetary definition. These people are rich or damn near it.
