there is medication that helps. consult a psychiatrist and/or psychologist. Probably have to try many different ones until you find one that is good for you.
Usually for medium to severe cases to get people out of the worst or cases where it's a chemical imbalance probably longterm.
excercise, light therapy, therapy with a shrink.
Keeping a healthy diet and staying away from drugs helps too.
Last resort for deep depression is ect.
