But then literally just put him a #1 contenders match... why would they do that? He didn't even need to qualify for it or anything.

I don't get why Ambrose is in it too, both in and out of kayfabe it makes no sense. In kayfabe he hates the Authority and out of it, surely we should have an IC title match, especially since the WHC title won't be defended either. Owens or Bray would have been a better pic here.
