So I didn't watch WCW until the NWO was big in the late 90s.
What stuff in the 80s and early 90s still holds up today?

Everything. Better than today's stuff.
Starrcade 85
Anytime Vader and Cactus Jack were in the same ring. One time abdullah the butcher got electrocuted in an electric chair. Cactus Jack vs. sting. Any sting vs vader. Any match with the Steiner brothers. The white castle of fear.
WCW was aweomse in the 80s and 90s the 80s was the era of FLAIR and 90s was the era of STING

WCW was Jim Crockett promotions even though they had a show called World Championship Wresting. They were officially WCW when Crockett sold to Turner.
WCW had some goat supershows with New Japan back in the early 90s.

That and Thunder took up a lot of my time as a kid, no regrets
Collision in Korea, especially the women's tag team match and early Nitro midcard matches.

WCW has a very rough patch in the early 90's before they split from the NWA where they play with the rules for matches a year or two as a way to get away from the zany stuff they did in 89-91
The Bill Watts years (91-93) was rough, he had banned jumping off the top rope moves and being thrown over the top rope was an automatic DQ and WCW had a lot of high flyers
when Bischoff comes in the product vastly improves until Hogan shows up 93 and 94 is WCW's Golden Age (minus a Flair for the Gold), you had a great cross company promotions with NJPW and AAA
