That was the only time he has ever been relevant and charismatic, when riffing off Machine Gun. AJ was already established as a main eventer, having two heaters does nothing for him.

See, they should have debutted him during the string of injuries that happened. Help establish him and allow him to easily transition between mid-main card as need be, but now, I don't know where the fuck you'd put him. Right now it's all about The Shield, so what do you add him into? Him vs. AJ, where no one really wins in that situation. Do you throw him into the IC title scene? Does he beat Rusev? All of which seems pretty underwhelming for the way Triple H seems to envision this guy.
It kind of feels like with booking, that all of his best stuff is already behind him. He kind of held onto that championship a little too long, and as a result, kind of killed the hype going into the main roster. Doesn't help that the dude is maybe just a few years younger than Cena.

I really think they shouldn't have done any roster bolstering for the brand extension. They had plenty of people to fill both rosters if they actually used their time to give them proper spotlight for once.
Also I honestly don't care about the shield anymore. The "New Era" to me is the Era after the Shield and their ilk, and they're taking up the screentime of people I'd rather see.

The problem there is that on NXT his appearances are much more of a rarity. During his title reign, he didn't show up on the weekly shows with any regularity whatsoever, so his entrances were interspersed well.
On the main roster, he'll have to show up regularly, and do an entrance-per-month. He's not interesting enough in his regular appearances, and that will expose that his entrances are the only appealing thing about him.

i agree with this. people never account for how super-protectively hes been booked down there. he'll have to do a lot more stuff with a lot more air-time when he gets called up, and hes an absolute fucking void on the mic. and he's not even tippy-top-tier in-ring as people think. joe outperformed him in each of their title bouts, and shit, even going back to Owens, he looked better there, too.
