Let's create a comprehensive list of rules to follow to make a good training partner. Here's what I've got.
1. Don't go rough, and stop when signaled. Signals can be taps, hands up, or just yelling "stop!"
2. Aim at your target. If the drill calls for you to swing at the head, swing at the head, not above it. If the partner doesn't dodge or block fast enough, then he will next time.
3. Encourage your partner, and keep them in high spirits.
4. Correct mistakes and offer advice for your partner.

What else do you have?

Don't do a combat sport that include a lot of head contact unless you want brain damage.

That has 0 to do with being a good training partner.

You're there to learn or teach, not to win.

But don't be a soft little bitch who lets your partner get everything all of the time without any effort.
