He wasn't ever a real top-project, even though he main evented a few times and had a couple shots at the NXT Title.
In-fact, he bolsters my point. If a guy who vied for the NXT Title ends up like that on the main roster, a guy who will never be allowed to sniff it, and only ever score wins against Alex Riley and Murphy is even less likely to get there in the first place.
After going to an NXT live show I'm sold on this guy.
His mic skills are fantastic, his gimmick is easy for the crowd to latch on to and enjoy, he's a decent wrestler and he's a handsome son of a bitch as well.
10/10 would mark again
