It's not just that he wants wrestling to be a television drama, it's that he sucks dick at it. Actual soap operas and some pornos have higher production values than your average episode of RAW. Used to think he was max based but his complete inability to understand that kayfabe is dead and buried because this isn't the 70s and that things like Lucha Underground or DDT and the like are perfectly acceptable forms of entertainment that people will pay to see make me think that maybe there's a good reason he hasn't been able to keep a job down in the industry despite his grasp of it. There's a reason UFC distanced themselves from that a long time ago and it's the same reason no one gives a shit about all the orgs where you can stomp, elbow or knee people however you want without the restrictions that the UFC abides by.
It's the same reason boxing didn't go to new heights when it comes to promotion till Ali took influence from professional wrestling. Or why the biggest draws in UFC history are literal mandrama and some manlet Irishman who was famous for his media and taking promos straight from Ali or mandrama.
People care about rivalries and mandrama. The "as real as it gets" shit is just a way for them to justify it.

My favorite example is probably UFC trying to paint Bethe Correia as some kind of deadly brawler with one punch knockout power when she was called up to fight Rousey, even though she has exactly 2 knockout victories in 11 fights, one of which didn't even happen in the UFC. Or the endless calls of "so and so is a top 10 pound for pound fighter" thrown around so often they've lost all meaning. UFC runs their promo machine as much as anyone else does.
