The Brand Split does make things interesting, doesn't it?
Bring back the legend killer gimmick (or variation of it) and his old actually good music. Make him a permanent heel and slot him specifically as NXT-baby's first opponent. Neither he nor Cena should ever be in the main title picture ever again but they're both great in-ring performers and need to be used as such.

I don't know. I think it could work, have him bury some old guys who you know will never be anybody and call them 'rookies.'. Build him up as the rookie killer and let the NXT guys you really want to push go over him in feuds and have him resort to cheap tricks to beat some of them so they look strong but he doesn't start to become a loser because he can't get one up on anybody.
