Body shots at your height? Bend your knees and step in, then step back out.
If you're trying to do shovel hooks and the like without compromising range, stop. You should be using your length to keep the other guy away. Jab and move. Jab and pivot. Open the door when he tries to charge straight in and hit him with your left straight.
As a tall southpaw your game should be predicated on distance and footwork. Not trying to rumble unless you have to or the last round is ending.

Jab,Straight right both to the body and come up with a lead hook. While using your jab step forward and using your straight right don't extended it fully so you don't have to move in again for the hook. Bang Bang Boom
