Could Cena possibly save wrestling with a Heel Turn the way Hogan did for WCW?
>>
Wrestling in the states literally can't be saved

Europeans, The Japanese, and basically all non Americans will always be bigger wrestling fans/marks than anyone on a domestic scale

I genuinely think its time WWE pulls a TNA and strongly start considering a strictly more International schedule. India is the highest paying country for as much wrestling as possible
>>
>>1305487
No. Wrestling's decline cannot be stopped.
>>
>>1305493

Domestic wrestling is never booming ever again when the alternatives to it are good and plentiful

and I don't mean alternatives of other wrestling shows I mean actual sports.

Wrestling is never gonna be seen as anything other than sweaty man hug seen by a couple million autists who hate watching real sports

You want people passionate about wrestling leave the US
>>
>>1305487

Probably not quite to that extent, but turning him actually heel (read: getting him unanimously booed in a way that makes people want to watch next week to maybe see him get his comeuppance) would be quite a feat. And I'm sure it would end the same way Hogan's heel turn did, with Cena and his buddies completely enveloping the product, WELL beyond the point of anyone caring anymore, until the company dies.

It would be a fair bit easier to actually turn him face, by turning him into less of a goody-two-shoes, moral-dissonance-causing twatbasket.
>>
>>1305487
No. Because it would be written by writers that don't know fuck about wrestling. And the top brass (McMahon's) don't give a fuck about trying to create compelling content like their company depends on it because they don't have to.

Wrestling in America can't be "saved" unless there's literally another Ted Turner out there.
>>
Wrestling is a fake sport for manchildren so no it cannot be saved.
>>
>>1305502

Dipshit, are you implying "real sports" were not widely available in the late 90s?

Wrestling isn't dying because people watch sports. Wrestling is dying because the only company with more name recognition than a Wal Mart cashier is utter shit. If the WWE made more like LU and wasn't an insultingly stupid kids show, and has consistent characterization of characters the audience can identify with or again, and compelling angles that actually lead to a payoff and ultimately have consequences, the same sort of people who used to watch wrestling would be watching again.

The alternative to wrestling isn't real sports, it's Game of Thrones and shit like that. LU seems to understands this. And while Game of Thrones is an overhyped shitshow that has to distract from the fact that it's really thin on actual plot developments with just a gratuitous amount of violence and boobies (I NEVER thought I'd get tired of seeing women naked but then that 6'3'' Viking chick got naked and I tapped out), it's still better than WWE because it has all the titties and violence. AND at it's most boring worst, the plot and characters are still loads better than anything the WWE has shat out since the Nexus.
>>
Cena Orton and who else? Batista?
>>
>>1305539
Batista is done with the E
>>
Even a Cena heel turn could manage to bring back the 4+ ratings, the company needs a new huge edgy babyface that fights a globally hated heel that isn't the boss, maybe build up some great heel that actually wins matches instead of losing every feud against bland baby faces.
>>
>>1305551
>who is Roman reigns: version crow aka never talks
>>
Reminder that Cena's still younger than Hogan when he formed the NWO.
>>
>>1305491
>India is the highest paying country for as much wrestling as possible
huh, did not know that. makes sense seeing they're over a billion strong population.
no wonder they made khali the heavyweight champ, so he could get the poo in loo audience

apparently he has his own promotion in india now
>>
>>1305527
>unless there's literally another Ted Turner out there.
trump will make wrestling great again
>>
>>1305554
Shield Roman was so great, I miss him so much.
>>
>>1305557
only by, literally, 3 years.
>>
wrestling needs to go through a year long phase where heels dominate everything, and face have to team up and work together to "take back" the WWE.
>>
>>1305532

this anon gets it. WWE's problem is that they are having an identity crisis. they're completely oblivious to who their competition is and who their audience is. Vince brags about pulling wrestling out of high school gyms... he's going to put it right back before he dies.
>>
>>1305666
And let's have an actor come in and become champ. Maybe somebody who always uses a trademark weapon, like a guitar or something.
>>
>>1305666
Heels have been dominating the WWE for nearly 3 years straight tho...
>>
>>1305487
>save wrestling with a Heel Turn the way Hogan did for WCW?

No because it wouldn't be that big of a surprise & if he would just get cheered by the smarks who are booing him now.

You have to remember something about Hogan's heel turn at the time, practically NOBODY thought he was going to be the secret 3rd guy going into the event. Rumors were running wild about who it would be, from Yokozuna (who was off TV at the time) to even HBK (who was WWF champ). Yes, people actually thought HBK was going to jump ship with the belt over the possibility of it just being Hogan.

That's the problem with a heel Cena turn, the anticipation for it is already there, so it wouldn't have as big of an impact as Hogan turning in 96.
>>
>>1305491
>half the roster is injured
>lets take the other half to India so they can get worms
>>
>Wrestling can't be saved cuz smarks or other sports

2 years ago wrestling was spiking the interests of the masses again with Daniel Bryan

then Vince killed it by shoving boring Roman down everyone's throat
>>
>>1305554
literally all they need to do is have Roman Reigns and the Uso's go to the middle of the ring, destroy a group of midcarders and cut a promo that can be broke down into "We don't care what you think, you boo us, so we don't fucking care anymore" and wwe would have the best mega heels in the world.

>>1305983
I hate how wrestling seems to be the only acceptable area where you can go "it's the fucking fans, not the people in charge" and no one will call you out and tell you that's a bad business practice. The directer of the new ghostbusters went on a tirade when his movie was called garbage, saying that "geeks are all assholes!" and he's seen some nasty public backlash. it's kind of sttupid that wrestling is the one place where they can blame the target audience and get away with it

Cena will only turn heel if someone takes his place as the top face of the company
>>
>>1306035
>wwe would have the best mega heels in the world.

Nah. A heel turn can't save Roman because he has been forced. The one reason he's not had an old school heel turn is because he gets heel heat now already. If he went full heel, then all the 8 year old marks would boo him, but everyone who boos him currently will just be silent. And that will be so much worse than boos.

they didn't even maintain the viewership of Cena during Cena's prime run.

I just wish they would stop announcing returns. If you want more viewers on raw, have him make a surprise return on a PPV.

note how in 2013 the decline had stopped?

The after mania Vince decided to throw his biggest draw in a decade under the bridge for Ramen and boooom ratings down the toilet

>Wrestling is never gonna be seen as anything other than sweaty man hug seen by a couple million autists who hate watching real sports
Thats boxing actually.

It didnt help that Paciao vs Mayweather was advertised as the match of the century and was a shit show.
>>
>>1306108
Roman would suck as a heel too.
There's a reason you build up wrestlers and that's because they learn how they work through it.

During the Shield days Roman learned how to work some in ring angles, but he never had a solo run to develop charisma, mic skills etc.
Vince immediately threw him at the top, and once you are at the top, why put any effort in learning new stuff?
Which is why he won't.
>>
>>1305532
> If the WWE made more like LU
Didn't they ran an angle where one of the wrestlers TURNED INTO A FUCKING DRAGON?
>>
>>1306281
it's not just Roman, he plays a major part but it's also equally just flat out ignoring the fans and Vinces ego and believign that "he knows best" and not having enough guys to go "you know, maybe this isn't the best idea.."
>>
>>1306281
The decline stabilized after WCW died and Rock/Austin left once Cena became THE GUY.

Since 2010 the trend of decline has continued. Which just fits into the overall trend of decline.
>>
>>1306295
adding:

-people who say ''it's like John Cena'' are retards living in a state of delusion
when Cena faced RVD at ONS2 he was booed like never before. It wasn't 50%-50%, nor 30-70.
It was the Philly die hard ECW crowd. Cena threw the tshirt to fans and they threw it back, 4 times. So what did Cena do? He started taunting them every time he landed a power move on RVD. That's charisma. He was heel that night because the crowd would take any from him.
When Cena cut a promo a couple of years ago and the crowd chanted ''boring'', Cena said ''how about a heel turn?'' and started twisting his ankle. That's breaking character and again charisma and he got a mild pop out of it instead of ''boring'' chants.

Roman? He gets ''boring'' chants and says ''no this ain't boring, this is real life''.
Pls crowd like me, uuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeeee. He gets butthurt when the crowd chants ''we want Seth Rollins''. He's nothing like Cena. Mitch the plant has fucking more charisma than Roman.

wwe has a zombie undead wizard who's the leader of a cult of druid, an undead zombie wizard who can summon lightning, possess people and disappear and reappear at will. The Undead Zombie Wizard also has a little brother who burnt their house down, killing their parents, said younger brother can summon fire at will and is seeming impervious to most pain.

Having a guy on your roster who's also a part time dragon seems benign
>>
>>1305487
That depends on if he doesn't fuck up the finish by putting the face over clean
>>
Why can't anyone get it through their head, Vince doesn't give two sits about wrestling anymore. Its all about ENTERTAINMENT
>>
>WWE books a Cena heel turn by having him attack Reigns
>Cena gets cheered
>10 more years of Cena on top
>>
>>1305539

Movie Star Batista coming back to be part of the top heel faction (sort of like Hollywood Rock) would be goddamn huge if we lived in a world where Batista wasn't COMPLETELY done wrestling and where the WWE didn't ruin absolutely everything they touch.

To be fair I'd rather have a gimmick of someone turning into a dragon rather than Generic Technical Wrestler #264637
>>

>No because it wouldn't be that big of a surprise & if he would just get cheered by the smarks who are booing him now.

Well, if he's getting cheered, it wouldn't be a heel turn, would it, dipshit?

They need to turn him in such a way that EVERYONE boos him, instead of just a slim majority. They would also need a good babyface or babyface stable to fight against him. And that might actually be the bigger challenge, the WWE has utterly killed every babyface they had by turning them into the same grating, stupid-joke-making douche.

It's the only way

Aerostar can travel through time and fly. For some reason he doesn't use any of this to win matches.

I more meant like a TV show along the lines of Breaking Bad, but with Mexican Kung Fu lunacy driving the plot. Some of LU's characterization is a little too "out there" for something that ultimately has to come through in the ring, in front of a LIVE STUDIO AUDIENCE.

Muertes and Undertaker being undead monsters can be communicated by under selling or no selling, Fenix always rising from the ashes can be communicated in kicking out from a lot of punishment (or coming back after being kayfabe murdered in a death match), and so on. It's difficult to "work" goddamn time travel.

Aerostar is a tecnico/face, he doesn't use his powers so that would be not fair to the rest

TV was becoming less watched in general.

there was also the loss of The Rock and Stone Cold at around that time, with people still bummed about losing mick foley.

pretty much everyone that everyone loved was gone.

>>1306280
>>1306594
if i recall trips had torn his quad at around that time, even he wasn't around
>>
>>1305908
I disagree based on your sentiment alone. Even most casual marks share the
>they'll never turn the big money maker heel
mentality which would make a BMJ heel turn all the more shocking
>>
>>1305487
Nothing can save it. People ain't watching tv as they use to. Also everyone they have right now is boring as shit and its a 2 hour Disney level pg show.
>>
>>1305532
WWE still beats every other irrelevant crap on tv tho on a normal monday night. Cable is dying fast. Only two shows are the exception which is GOT and WD which are completely dog shit. But thats it, making WWE tv-14 won't change nothing. People are not going to watch a fake wrestling show in 2016. The viewing audience is basically nostalgic grown men, nerds/smarks and kids.

Wrestling can be saved if it can go back to being called wrestling instead of "sports entertainment". Lets the moves be known within commentating and the origin like how ECW used to do. I'd like to see the Raw-Smack down sets be scaled back in the display...this list could go on.
>>
>>1305487
Yes. I believe Cena has that in him if he was given the opportunity.
