Depends on the situation and the talent.
If it was a big-time title match that they went into themselves for, they'd probably just kayfabe the title off of them and demote them down the card, I don't feel they'd outright fire a Main Eventer.
If it were something like your image, a VV Title match, or some low-carder challenging for a midcard title, they're outta there.
