Why couldn't he just turn heel?
>>
cuz he wouldnt sell no tickets anymore
>>
>>1236999
He did and it was awful. Only good to come from it was face Kurt angle after being an infinite heel
>>
>>1236993

But he did turn heel you underage turd...the thing was people still cheered for him
>>
>>1236993
He did and it was revoltingly bad.
>>
>>1236993
Teaming him with Vince was the kiss of death - He should have remained a loner, didnt need a faction behind him, made him look weak, The two man power trip team was purely to make it look like HHH was on his level when really he was 3 levels lower (with Rock and Undertaker/Foley above him)
>>
Because he was just too fucking over with the crowd. The had him beat the fuck out of Lita with a chair for ten minutes because they were so desperate to get him heat.
>>
>>1236993
Wat?
>>

>>1237036
I don't think he was awful at portraying a heel desu.

>>1237227
>Because he was just too fucking over with the crowd.
Exactly. Austin was so over it would have never worked, he was already far too established and liked. it's not even the first time he was heel either. He was heel against Jake Roberts and Bret Hart in 96/7, and that worked out great.
>If you put the letter "S" in front of "Hitman," you've had my exact opinion of Bret Hart
Fucking great
>>
>>1236993
He did, with Triple H, but then trips tore his quad.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Power_Trip

then it went to Austin and Vince and it sucked.
>>
>>1236993
He was the most over wrestler ever

It's like the opposite situation Roman Reigns is in now but even worse
>>
>>1237981
he was more over than the rock still in 2001, should of turned the rock
>>
>>1236993
He fucking tried at one point and people still loved him.

Why couldn't he just turn thin?

the fast food is just too good to pass up for him

Austin's 2001 cowardly heel was fucking hilarious. The hugging Vince, attacking commentators, his banter and feud with Kurt Angle, "do you know what my watch is saying?"

It was a brilliant re-invention of AustinWinslol from the few years before

based man john with the tease.

will he ever turn if they find someone who can be at his level face wise?
>>
austin was the anti-hero. how do you keep an anti-hero fresh? he's already a step beyond the basic face-heel formula.

the heel turn at wm17 was well-timed in as much as the austin vs mcmahon storyline was absolutely finished but the crowd rebelled. they tried so hard to make austin a heel, right down to changing his entrance music three times in just a few months but at best only half the crowd could be made to boo
>>
>>1238212
Cena will never turn now. That ship has sailed, reached its destination and been scrapped for parts.
>>
>>1236993
He did and it was based as fuck.
>>
>>1238212
They've had quite a few guys who could've been at his level.

Or even better, seeing as how they weren't booed by basically anybody with descended testicles.
>>
That WM17 heel turn was literally the GOAT moment of wrestling.
Had so much potential in the aftermath.
But they booked him terribly.
Instead of getting the Stone Cold of the past 4 years, with all the same power, being the champ, being the best in the ring, only as a heel...
...we got a coward-type heel, with him running away at every turn, winning every match by cheating, unable to pin anyone cleanly.

Then the comedy came in.
Then the 2-man power trip prematurely ended, and the Invasion happened.
And it got worse and worse.

...and worse. His return face turn the night after Survivor Series made no sense at all, Rock and Angle should have been co-top faces, and Austin remaining a heel.

2001 was a total disaster. The 3 GOAT PPVs in a row, culminating in the absolute GOAT moment in wrestling history just crumbled the next night on RAW, and led to a rapid downward spiral. Things really didn't recover until a year and a half later with the emergence of Brock and the brand split.

This. You know what they should have done? Total character 180, have him act like a Posse member with sweater vests and give up beer to become a wine snob. Cut promos in a fake British accent about French cuisine.

The idea of wine snob Austin amuses me greatly.

Holy shit take those nostalgia goggles off for a moment there. Everything surrounding Rock vs Austin at X7 was pure shock value and hype. Austin teaming up with Vince made so little sense due to how personal their feud had been. Not to mention that match was boring as hell, too and only good because of shallow "omg the top two guys are facing each other" hype.
>>
>>1238957

Boring as hell? Stop watching wrestling, you aren't welcome here. Dumbest slice of contrarian bullshit I've read in months.
>>
>>1238957
>Not to mention that match was boring as hell
Now i know you're baiting. It was by far their best match together

>only good because of shallow "omg the top two guys are facing each other" hype.
They had already faced each other at Mania once before, and many times at other PPVs/ TV shows, so it wasn't even a new thing. It was hype because they regularly knocked it out of the park together.
>>
Austin just sucks

Rock, at the height of his popularity, could be an effective heel.
>>
>John Cena leads Balor Club

Hollywood Hogan 2.0

he did, and joined the wcw
