I'm posting on this board instead of /vg/ because this thread would probably die quickly on there.
What is your favorite wrestling video game, or some of your favorites? I assume a lot of people are going to say WWF No Mercy or some Smackdown games.
But what is about those games you like? What mechanics or features do you think should be in every wrestling game? What makes a good wrestling game?
I've always wanted to design a wrestling game and was just writing some ideas down and was wondering what some other people thought.
The game in the pic is Fire Pro Wrestling Returns.
I'll just say that the 2k games tend on to try to be as much realistic as possible, ruining the fun of the games themselves. They remove a lot of features, introduce them back again, etc.
I really enjoyed SVR10/11 (11 probably a bit less). Graphics were fine enough, I enjoyed the create-a-finisher and the character customization, which was a lot better than in current games. Gameplay also felt better though tag matches and ladder matches have always been, and likely always will be a total clusterfuck.

Wow, it has more supporters than I thought it would.
The series should definitely make a come back with online features, an improved Match Maker mode, some new match types and maybe a new mechanic or two like managers something.

WCW Nitro was pretty fun
I remember the first smackdown game on the PS1. I was waiting for the release of it and it didn't disappoint.
There was something immensely satisfying about the fast paced action and (at the time) how amazing it looked.
Was proper hype for it. I am not really a fan of the new 2k games. I tried this years and last years and it's just dull and plodding with stupid mini games for lockups, pins and subs. IMO it's just boring as fuck and frustrating as hell when you beat the shit out of a guy then lose to a pin because you don't hit a tiny fucking marker on that cuntish pin mechanic.
Give me the totally unrealistic but fun as fuck smackdown games any day.

WM2000 will always have a place in my heart due to how much I fucking played it.
I replayed it a couple years ago and it was really too easy. You could win every match in under 2 minutes.

I knew with the disaster of 2k15 they would just slowly start bringing back features.

Royal Rumble arcade. There was also a pretty sweet game for NES my buddy had. The moveset was deep , at the time, as you could do moves from a seated position, like a chin lock. Sadly I can't remember the name. For some reason I thought Konami put it out, but I'm probably wrong.
