He DOES care what his sponsors think though and if every time Reigns was out people chanted something about the rival of a sponsor (like they're very proud of their new coke sponsorship so if every time reigns was out there people chanted "drink pepsi" or something) then sponsors would get upset and threaten to leave. I read a business article (you know, non-kayfabe stuff) that said the primary reason WWE stock took a massive hit was that investors weren't sure that WWE could keep many of the free-month subscribers they got due to Mania. I think it said subscribers went from about 1.2 million to about 1.8 due to the free monthers. WWE network hasn't had much success (compared to where WWE told everyone they'd be by now). I read another article from last year's #CancelWWENetwork movement which made people skeptical about the network's success. Vince played it off as 'they're just butthurt their guy didn't win - they'll stick around' but considering the hashtag made the news, hopefully it shook investor confidence a bit. Hopefully this year's low-quality Mania did the same thing

Take New Day. They started off with (I hate this saying because I liked him) X-Pac heat, and nobody wanted to see them. Personally, I think it's because nobody wanted to see Charleston-style black religious shit in the WWE. But they were just annoying as hell, and I remember turning the tv off for their matches. But then New Day's charisma kicked in, and even when they were still "heels," you loved to hate them (they're still kind of tweener heels, in a way).
