Hay fags just got me a mantis any tips and not killing him
Give it a container with more vertical space than horizontal and thinks like sticks or a fake/real plant to hang from. Feed it any kind of live insects twice a weekish. Spray container often so it can suck diwn water droplets. Pretty simple, if you can't keep inverts alive don't try to keep anything else.

Seconding the need for hangs. They need to hang while molting. The one I kept died due to a bad molt, possibly because I didnt have it a proper enclosure.
>>2161235
They like being set on fire and paper to eat.
Apart from that and the glowing in the dark thing.... there's not much more you need!
>>2161252
>>2161253
I have it in this container
>>2161263
It like to hang from the roof
Also how often should I spray Adolf
>>2161332
Daily if you can, in the morning.
They prefer living prey, moths and flies are ok they are masters at catching them.
>>2161235
use distilled or spring water, tap water has too much chlorine in it and may kill it
>>2161346
I thought live prey was dangerous as fuck? Are mantis literally such badass that they murder stuff without fail?
>>2161407
Moths and flies for sure.
They have negative gravitropism, so always give them something to climb.
>>2161447
The fuck is even happening in this gif? It looks like the mantis strikes, then both of them explode.
>>2161600
Nah only the mantis explodes they humming bird dive rolls away
>>2161447
Rest in pieces
These guys are fun
Hope I see some before this summer is over, have a similar critter keeper that's vacant atm.
Window sills a good spot for them?
>>2161447
I never knew they ate hummingbirds. Nature, man
>>2161843
They don't eat hummingbirds, but they're so dumb that hummingbirds do trigger a feeding response.
The mantis in that gif literally exploded due to the force of the birb's takeoff.
>>2161447
I feed him live crickets
>>2161235
Where do you find them in the wild? Central Europe btw
>>2161235
>getting an animal
>THEN asking how to care for it
#triggered
>>2161911
I live in south West England so I bought mine (it was for my birthday so idk where)
>>2161913
It was a present
>>2161252
So a horizontal container sideways?
Are you retarded?
>>2161872
>They don't eat hummingbirds
Don't google mantis eating humminbird.
>>2162220
Cool
the mantis at that age can only eat mosquito and fruit fly or smaller insects, but do not give meat or anything dead
>>2163200
I feed him small crickets
>>2161919
even worse
>>2163223
