So my friend sends me a message yesterday saying his co-worker just adopted a puppy but quickly found out it was too much for them to handle and would I like to adopt it. I'm not in a situation to take on another dog right now but I was thinking about helping them find a home with someone else until I was told "my co-worker doesn't want any money for the puppy but they need someone to take on the $50 monthly vet payment plan for the next 10 months".
Wait, what? What the fuck is wrong with the pupper that it cost them over $500? "Oh, nothing, she's perfectly healthy that's just the cost of her shots and getting spayed".
Nigga that shit is free - $50 at humane societies and even at vets it shouldn't be that much how stupid is your co-worker that they paid that much or what is actually going on? Does that sound like a normal price to you guys because that sounds ridiculous to me and I've had several healthy pups through the years that had all their shots and business taken care of and it never cost me half of that. To be honest it feels like a weird scam by the co-worker but I've known my friend since forever and I know they wouldn't know or be in on something shady. I bought the KONG black toy for large dogs for my 7 month Weimaraner. Good purchase i say. I like to stick peanut butter and treats inside and my pupper cleans it in about 20 to 30 mins.
I was wondering what kinds of ideas you guys have with your KONG toys. Like, what can i put on the toy to keep my pupper even more busy. Or is there another type of treat out there that will actually keep him busy for hours?

You can teach your pup to play hide and seek. I do that with my Aussie. I'll have her wait in one room while I hide her Kong or another toy and then tell her "go find it" and let her explore. It's nice stimulation for her.
As far as treats to keep him busy I don't know if anything will last him hours, but something like a large antler or bone might keep him occupied.

I wet the kibble sometimes. It makes it expand some so makes it a bit harder. I have also read about people filling the toys with water or broth and freezing them, but have never personally tried.

Sorry for the late reply been a busy weekend. We got her from a breeder here in Norway. Either her father or grandfather had won a shitload of awards and stuff like that as well.
She's been very nice, always very happy to see people, haven't caused any trouble with the cat, no problems at all in the car and she's been sleeping through the night with no problems.

he's a 10 month old airedale and he listens fine at home or while taking him for walks, but as soon as he's at a park he wont listen at all.
No matter what treat I have or if there are other dogs at the park.
Fucking at home he listens 100% perfectly but when at the park he avoids me no matter what

The park is more exciting than you, you need to lower the threshold a bit. Try taking him outside on a lead and do some basic training- sit etc, then slowly move towards the park and continue.
Take some ridiculously high value treats with you, as in treats you will ONLY use at the park- you need to be more exciting than the outside world- not an easy task. Start on lead (invest in a long line if needed), be patient- perhaps even try and find a new park if he behaves better in new situations.
I take it he's running up to other dogs/running off etc? I mean, to put it in his perspective, why on earth would he want to come back to you and say for example sit when there's a million and one interesting smells/other dogs/other humans around that are far more interesting than a treat he gets at home.

Got him in 2008
He's a Black Lab and he's torn his ACL once in 2012 or 2013. Of course he's had surgery since then and is fine but he's had to go through physical therapy twice. He loved walking on the water treadmill. I might have some photos from older phones. So give me a little bit. He's very energetic but his mind is too hyper for his body. He's an old doggo and is very happy but if he goes too hard he will favor his right leg (the one that had surgery). I'll find more pics. I have lots on my old phone.
