op here again, i'm thinking of building a 72 x 36 x 36 plywood tank for these with a custom background like pic related. How many beardeds can fit in the 72 x 36 x 36 tank? I'm thinking of only having one male and multiple females

Lighting is pretty simple; one fluorescent UV bulb, preferably the long tube style and not the compact ones One basking bulb. There is nothing special about basking bulbs pet stores sell. An incandescent from hardware store of appropriate wattage works just fine.

Recommend you do not attempt keeping a colony. Learn the animal first, get some experience. Don't breed. There are enough bearded dragons and you won't make any money anyway.

Also, no night light necessary if you room temp is mid 70's. If it's below that, use a ceramic heat emitter as your basking heat source and leave it on 24/7. Those night lights are garbage.

three questions

1. what watt should be used for a 36 inch tall tank, the tank will have ledges and shit so how far above the ledges should be the bulb depending on watt

2. will there be any draw backs if i use a incandescent bulb instead of a florescent? im not planning to do this but just wondering

3. if do plan on colony, what ratio to males and females should there be?

4. Also, what output should i use for a ReptiSun 10.0 that is 46 inches long? also it is T5 not T8

thanks

/an/ sure is a slow board, time to go to fishlore

1. Wattage depends on where the basking spot is. There will be some trial and error. 36" is very tall for a beardy tank so probably go 150w?

2. Fluorescent bulb is for your UV. The incandescent is just for heat.

3. 1 male + females or all female

4. read the packaging on those bulbs to check
