identification, /an/? Is this something I should be worried about or is it killing things for me?
I see about a handful of these hanging around the outside of my house at night time. The pincers look kind of intimidating. I live in central Minnesota. I'd say it's about 1.5-3 inches from the butt to its head
This probably goes without saying but they only just started appearing a week ago, pretty much no bug survives the winter here outside.
This is the first time that I've ever actually seen these in my area for my 10 years living here.

damn anon, I think you got it right on the mark. It appears to be a female here, specifically, since the males I see have much larger pincers.
Why is it that I'm only seeming females this whole time? I don't think I've seen a single male since these things started showing up

I wish I could tell you but I don't really know.
perhaps the males don't fly so the females get around more? I dunno. I'm no expert on stag beetles.

Confirmed for Southern American Stag Beetle female. There are 31 species of stag beetle in the Southern states alone.
Looks like a Chileistomus Weinreich to me
