if you'll be adopting a cat from a shelter don't expect it to be a breed cat.
unless a cat has paperwork, it doesn't have a breed, no exceptions unlike dogs.

If you are adopting from a shelter, the "breed" of cat you will be limited to is color: they will all be domestic short/med/long hairs. I might you might see the occasional Siamese or Manx, but that is about it.

Just get whatever cat you like. Also consider getting an adult cat instead of a kitten! The shelters are so full of unwanted adult cats.
