I live in the Southern Hemisphere so it is pretty cold in my country, and I have started a fire on the fireplace which I also use to dry my clothes when it is rainy outside.

I inherited that cat from my father half a year ago (he didnt die but he cant walk anymore and needs to live in an elderly asylum with the constant help of nurses)

everything is fine with the cat, she is very happy, but she loves to be next to the fireplace, and I am paranoid about her accidentally puting her tail in it, since my mother had that happen to a Pekingese dog in the 90s with a gas heater (nothing happened to the dog, we immediately reacted and turned off the fire on the tail), but I am not always at the house.

Should I put a net over the fireplace? is their tail movement completely unconcious?

>Letting a fire burn when there's nobody home.
>Worried about a cat possibly burning itself
Are you fucking retarded?

I guess short answer is yes.

I saw my aunt's cat walk over a candle and catch fire. We were all there to catch him an put it out though so he is fine. But there are other problems that can happen leaving a fire going with no one to watch it

i left the flame going on the stove one night and woke up to find my cats whiskers all burnt off...got a heater the next day. fuck that shit.

I think you are retarded too. It's never ok to leave fire unattended.

Get a screen for the fireplace. Yes, the cat can put her tail in the fire.
