Crustacean/invertebrate thread
Are there any people here keeping crabs?
I had 7 tanks in my best time but don't have them anymore. I want to restart this year.
If theres anyone who could tell me where to get Pseudosesarma bocourti this would be helpful.
This was my P. bocourti female.

Guys I need your expertise.
>went on vacation in Galveston
>found a smallish conch shell
>take said shell for collection, halfway home I see it has a crab inside when it emerges
>take it home, purchase some saltwater treatment and crab food, use old fish tank and place a small container for water inside while I get my supplies for transferred the tank to a crab habitat
>look up the crab and determine it is a thinstripe hermit crab
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clibanarius_vittatus
>crab initially hides and avoids me
>crab doesn't eat crab food
>one day come home to find the crab lethargic, outside it's shell with a ton of eggs in (her!) shell
What should I do? Are the eggs fertilized already? Will she die? What food can I give her?

No idea about the eggs but the crab needs a full saltwater tank.

Bump, someone please help me save this crab.

someone already did.
do you have a saltwater tank running?
no?
then you're not going to save that crab.

>What should I do?
You know what to do.

Do you have any pictures of your entire tanks? They look very nice.

Nothing. They usually never eat when they are about to release their eggs. Yes they are fertilized but those Zoea larvae will need salt water to develop.
This is a German overview about breeding crabs/crustaceans with marine development.

Not sure if you get it in English but use Google translate. Interesting though, I want to raise my own Pseudosesarma bocourti somewhen.
