They're great. Can be a bit bitchy, dominant and pushy though.

They have an incredibly high drive, you really need to keep it mentally stimulated.

Hip displasia and epilepsy are common for all the belgian shepherd breeds.
And yes, they are high energy as fuck dogs, a poorly trained and/or not tired belgian shepherd will be destructive and painful to live with.

Probally one of the most reliable breeds for off leash with consistant training.
