I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but I'll ask anyway. I want to put some plants on this white shelf in my bedroom but the window to the left is the only source of natural light. What types/species of plants could I put on this shelf and have them do well?

oh yeah and also the shelf is only about six inches deep so i can't put anything bigger than maybe a 4" plant on there

Dracaena braunii (Lucky Bamboo) and Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily) would be the easiest that I know of.

You could do larger air plants like Tillandsia xerographica. You can take them down and water them elsewhere, so you're never adding a lot of water or moisture to that wall/shelf.
They're attractive plants, but a downside is their normal growth at room temperature happens very slowly, so they're not very exciting versus something like a Pothos or Schlumbergera, which change in shape much faster (though that can be a good thing!) I'm also a fan of African Violets, though I'd similarly take those down to water them. And I freaking love various types of Ceropegia, but you should look at their growth pattern (and get one anyway and put it somewhere because they're awesome.)
Oh, along those Tillandsia lines, there are many bromeliads that could do well there (I keep some varieties in poor light and they do great, and they don't need much soil area.) And Rat Tail Cactus is also coming to mind. And there are tons more I'm sure I am neglecting to mention. Good luck.
Oh, and snake plants, sansiveria, could be good too and could be a good one if you want some height. They can tolerate not a whole lot of soil for a while, are fine in lower light and also tolerate drought well.
