This is familiar. I got a couple of crested geckos - you would not believe the weird places they manage to get their poop. It's like their whole purpose in life is making me ask "How did he shit there?" .... I mean, on the ceiling of their PVC cage. This is gravity defying. They smuggled in balloons, then shit on them, let them go up to the ceiling, then destroyed the evidence. That's all I got.

4 hours seems like a reasonable amount of time. fully cleaning and sanitizing a flight cage is a pain in the ass. especially if op is somewhere hot, all the shit is baked in.
Make something out of something not as shitty as wood? Growing up we put in tiles or some shit in our chicken coop.

not OP, but rehabs commonly construct their enclosures like this because they are easy to clean and if they get something shitty in the wood like parvo they can just tear it down and burn it.
