Can anyone recommend good disciplines to do with a Corso?

I have one and I can't really decide.

Start with agility and see how much time you can dedicate to it. In my opinion I wouldnt be doing any bite work with a dog unless I was 100% happy with his obedience and that comes from consistancy and time spent with your dog. Ive seen handlers "out" there malinois from a bite as the dog is flying through the air, I believe that level of control is crucial.

But I don't know what mut she exactly is

She and her siblings (most of them had long fur) were rescued from a killing station and brought here by an animal welfare group.
So no way I would know what "breed" she is.

whatever she is, shes an absolutely great dog, smart and friendly, but sometimes stubborn.

She also loves water, pic related

Thank you guys. I am working on obedience right now.

She's really mastering it,but I still have sometimes some attention paying issues that I am working on (will react to balls, cats and that jumpy and chasey shit, but she stops after few seconds and a correction). I guess she has a nice amount of drive there.

His small size harness broke, I use a harness on the 100ft rope to practing "come" and in the car to seatbelt him in... at the rate he is growing we can make the medium size harness work for now. Usually he is walked on a leash and collar.

Its not a heavy harness, its nylon.

His father was a neo x bullmastiff used for pig hunting and his mother a neo x dogue de bourdeux same again. If I dont take him for walks he will run circles around the living room.

Nope, nope and nope

While I dont live next to the woods like a redneck because I got a proper job, there are plenty of big open parks around my house.

Also I dont use crates simply because I dont need to, my dog is very calm and behaved.

Same as my dog, anon. Four surgeries to fix her busted cruciate ligaments (because both decided to go within weeks of each other).
First surgery worked on the one leg, the other leg got to three before had to give up because there just wasn't anything LEFT in there to fix.
She can still run around and shit, thankfully her knee has basically frozen up with a shit ton of scarring, but we can't throw things for her anymore because it puts too much strain on her leg pulling turns like that. She doesn't get that we can't and will run up to you with a stick or pinecone to throw, and we have to tell her no every time ;^;
>>
>>2099002
>She doesn't get that we can't and will run up to you with a stick or pinecone to throw, and we have to tell her no every time ;^;
That's adorable and sad as fuck. Poor doge.

Perhaps you could train her to wait in place (facing the direction you intend to throw) while you throw something, then let her run after it? I dunno if this is doable or if it would be safe for her though.

Can she swim ok? You might be able to play fetch in water as well (if she likes swimming) since it wouldn't be such a strain on her joints.

Just some suggestions...it's really sad that she can't play how she used to. ;-;

Why shouldn't puppies go on long walks?
>>
>>2099365

They think its a fragile pure bred that shouldnt be allowed out of a pen until its 2 years old because of joint problems.
>>
>>2099365
Too much strenuous exercise can damage growth plates so they'll have fucked up joints when they mature.

You should get a flirt pole if she has a good prey drive. Its good exercise for smaller spaces.
>>
>>2099365
Walks are generally fine, as is normal puppy behavior of running around on its own. It's strenuous exercise/compelled running (or, if you really take it too far, walking) that can cause problems with their joints while they're growing. This is mostly a problem with larger breeds, which take longer to mature.

Really though, it's not hard to avoid causing damage. Normal walks and playing in the woods/park is just fine. Just don't run your dog or have it pull weights, etc. until it's physically mature.

>>
>>2099173
>>2099173
Yeah, it's a bit crushing because she's always so eager to play but we just can't or we risk really hurting her.

Sadly its not the running thats the problem for her, its the stopping. She's an idiot and will attempt to stop while she's running OVER the thing at full sped and will try and pull ridiculous acrobatics to grab the stick as she's belting over it. I forgot and kicked a stick for her a few weeks ago and she went head over heels over it (literally) and was screaming bloody murder because it twisted her knee awkwardly.
She just has no sense of moderation, you know? She's a working dog so she's 1000% go all the time, which really does not help when she's supposed to be taking things easy.

Swimming is fine for her, but unfortunately there's not really anywhere near us to go swimming. I try and take her to a lake about 40 mins away when I can, she enjoys that, even when she's attempting to breathe in half the lake because she wont shut her mouth around her damn toys.

At the very least, she still gets to run around the garden and be a pain in our behinds. She's never really let any of this get her down and just uses her hind legs together as one big leg when she runs!
>>
>>2099790
>She's an idiot and will attempt to stop while she's running OVER the thing at full sped and will try and pull ridiculous acrobatics to grab the stick as she's belting over it
Ahh, I getcha. My dog does the same thing.

Poor girl. Still, it's good she can sometimes go swimming and play fetch there, and can still run around and stuff. She sounds like a great dog!

I post her here occasionally, though not as often in recent times.

I got her from a local(ish) hobby breeder.

>>2102204
Hmm, how durable is it? I'd like to make one for my doggo, she'd probably love it. She gets antsy when I won't let her play with my ferrets' dangly rattle toys.

Also, I doubt I'd have to for her, but did you have to put any kind of scent on the fleece to get him interested, or did he just naturally show interest?
>>
>>2102223

The fleece is really durable, it also makes a great chew toy because there is no stuffing to pull out and it cleans their teeth apparently. I just took a length about 12" wide and 4' long and rolled it up into a sausage then tied it in knots until I ran out.

You wont need any scent its all visual.
>>
>>2102230
Oh, neat, I'll try that.

And I figured as much, but I have read that some dogs don't take interest in it unless it's something like an animal skin.
>>
>>2102239

Perhaps but I can imagine any puppy leaving something alone that its being teased with.
>>
>>2102239
You could have a furry fabric to mimic an animal. Dogs will high prey drive will want to chase anything that moves though.
