I recently adopted a dog that has passed hands a few times. She was originally adopted by my friend's grandpa, but he died a few years ago.
My friend took care of the dog out of love for his grandpa, but isn't really a dog person. I lived with him and the dog for a few years, and we both decided it would be best if the dog stays with me when I move out.
My problem is that I am concerned about the microchip. I know she is microchipped, but the info is going to be for a dead guy that I don't know anything about. I don't even know what brand the chip is. Has anyone had this problem before? Is there a way to get the chip info changed?

Based on the microchipping company, which you can find based on the number that is scanned when you have the animal scanned, you contact so said company and let them know you need to change the info and why you need to change it.
Take doge to vet
Have microchip scanned
Call microchip company
Explain situation
Fix shit
Company will probably make you provide proof you own the dog. Usually just a testimonial from your vet or something.
