Do you have any strange/unique terms for animals that you like to use?
I like to call cats Cade's
Can't think of any for animals but I call Epiphyllums "Epibutts" in my native language
Not really "strange" or "unique" but somewhere along the years I fell into the habit of calling every horse I work with "bronco" regardless of how tame they are. I often find myself saying things like "C'mon bronco, let's get to work" as I'm leading them to the arena to ride, etc.
Skwizzels.
My mom had two female cats that she called "chickabees" which as far as I know is unpopular slang for women, and when they died she she got a male cat she was so used to calling them chickabees she called him that too. She retired and runs a cat sanctuary for disabled cats, and has shortened "chickabees" to "bees" so I joke that she's the queen bee to her bee colony
Puppies are poopies, self explanatory.

For my dogs I say diggle or doggo

My friend affectionately calls her pet fennec fox a "fenfen". But that could just be basic pet baby talk.
(The pic isn't of her fennec, just A fennec.)

Not particularly interesting, but most of my animals will respond to "sweet child of Jesus" as a name at this point. Sometimes I say it in public without thinking and people think I'm fucking nuts.
Also, I refer to cats as "feloid" sometimes.
Pupperoo
Ratties
Snek
Every animal that I own ends up being called something weird at some point
Dong (dog)
Frong (frog)
Long Tube (snake)
Big Floppo (axolotl)
I call my rats squiggles.
I call my parrot a birdika which I think means "a bird-friend" in mandalorian.

Red boone coon hoond
Red bone coon hound but everything besides Red rhymes with coon
Akootoo = Akita
Kitum/kitdumb = kitty cat
And every animal is booboo or boo or babi or bibo or beebee
Cats are biscuits.
The explanation is actually kind of long so I won't post it.
I refer to my cats as cat butts
>many years ago
>had a friend over, we are playing with the cat
>cat is not quite fully grown
>get the idea to cut the bottom out of an empty cardboard oatmeal can and give it to the cat to play with
>cat crawls in
>start gently rolling it across the floor
>cat seems to be enjoying it
>its ass is hanging out the back of the oatmeal thing
>dad walks in, sees what we're doing
>says "great, just what we needed - a revolving cat butt"
