It's gonna be a one-sided relationship where you put forth all the effort to interact with that animal if you want it to react to you in any positive way.
They're pretty cool, but take a lot of care compared to snakes.

Pretty interactive as reptiles go. They want to know what you're up to, will come up to the front of tank if they want out for a bit.
More work than snakes or geckos.
They're viewed as good starter reptiles.
Research what you need for their care properly.
