So, I guess this is the place to post this, I've found this rock and it picked my interest, but since I know next to nothing about minerals (other than the fact that mineral water exists), could someone identify it please? Its rather smooth to the touch.
looks like flint.
It's chert, a sedimentary rock of very fine silt particles.
r-r-rate m-my flint /an/
Is it trained? I always have trouble getting my rock to do what I want using negative reinforcement.

Nope, I just found it, so for now its kept away from my other rocks. For now it seems content to lay on one of my speakers and vibrate to some smooth jazz.
Sorry about the potato quality of this photo. Some of my calcite samples I got last summer.
>keeping your rocks inside
Disgusting. Rocks should be able to free roam and not be trapped indoors.

this derails the thread

Ass gravel.

That would just make them susceptible to erosion, and may not survive the next million years or so. Is that what you want to happen faggot?

How do you think rocks reproduce?
>>2075874
Too small for toolmaking. Did you find it at a beach? That's the worst place to look if you want useful flint.
Pretty generic rock. As a kid I used to pick rocks at the shore and fjords. This is my favorite one

I think it would be a pretty nice axe.
I don't remember where I found it, it's been 10 years since I actively collected rocks.

You do realise that in order to get a stone tool roughly that size, you'd need to start with a stone several times larger?
Look at this, for example:

Note how small the first levallois point he gets is in comparison to the stone he started with.

That looks like a chunk of asphalt or something.

dat's generic granite I think
