It's grafted. You're looking at two different but probably closely related species. They sell better that way.

yeah, they graft an albino barrel cactus that has no chlorophyll onto an columnar relative to provide nutrients, otherwise it would die as seedling.
Hylocereus Undatus stock, Gymnocalycium sp scion.
The soil looks like it has too much organic material in it, so be careful with overwatering them.
