I made the mistake of buying a betta fish and giving him those God awful plastic plants. He lived 3 years with shredded up fins bc of that. At least he was in a 10 gal with live plants when he turned one. He was a pretty white one too. Worst pet mistake I've ever made other than turning a lizard into lizard jerky (wrong bulb).

when I realized his fins were getting ripped after a few weeks I got some anubias instead

He was labeled male at the store. But I'll have to sex it. He's very big though. Almost three inches and still has room to grow.
