You what are some good species of land snail to have? Where do you buy them? How long do they live? I did a quick search and apparently some of them are illegal in the US, including african giants. I assume they're pretty easy to care for.

Genuinely interested and already considering getting one

Most snails that are being kept as pets are (Liss)Achatina species, you can keep Archachatina species as well. You buy them at your pet shop/someone who breeds them, and they can get very old (around 5-10 years).
All Giant snails are illegal in the US, but I know some people keeping native snails and slug species like Banana slugs, pancake slugs or (the slightly exotic) Helix pomatia.
Taking care of them is just feeding them, keeping the tank moist and clean and giving them some source of calcium (like a piece of cuttlebone). ( http://www.petsnails.co.uk/ )

Totally jealous of your GALS. Not legal to ship over boarders so if anyone knows a breeder in Canada I'd be happy to get my hands on some.

This is Quiche.

>Those guys are so good to check any bullshit greenery. Try to feed it some nitrate crap, no way it will even touch it!
used to say my dad
Is it true?
>>

Not all greenery, some can harm their shells, some of them can contain acids.
Better check ration guides to be sure

I have Cepaea snails here. They are invasive here in the New England. Some weirdo wanted snails like back in England so he ordered and released a crate of them into his garden. An anglophile literally imported an English pest.

Snail love mainly involves grappling and violent stabbing.

I don't think I've ever seen a snail in the desert regions of AZ. Maybe I did near a river or something a long time ago and don't remember. I'm sure they exist here, but sparsely.

But I think they meant they are surprised that people keep them as pets, and talk about it on a Native American basket weaving forum.

So do frogs really like not give a fuck?
or do they know that snails are harmless to them?
>>
>>2046823
How do you prevent those snails from breeding with each other and producing an endless army of offspring?

I can't prevent it, I've had eggs a few times now. I just check for eggs once a week, if I find some I'll get rid of them by placing them in the freezer.

How quickly do those Cepaea species snails grow?

Are they native to your country or are they introduced like here in the US?

They get big pretty fast at first but it takes them two to three years to be fully grown.

They are native to my country, that's why they make great pets. You don't have to sterilise old soil and can get rid of them at a snail friendly place if you can't or don't want to take care of them anymore.
